I’m a junior at Weston High School, and I helped find Nostos in November, 2019 with my brother, Benny Gilligan. We became interested in this cause when our father was purchasing a new iPhone 11 and saying goodbye to his “obsolete” iPhone 8. He didn’t know what to do with his old phone, so we recommended that he donate it to someone in need. He agreed, but when we researched about programs to donate technology to those in need, there were none in the Boston area. Thus, we started Nostos, a charity through which our father and others could easily donate their old technology to families in the Boston area.
Benny will be a freshman at Harvard University and co-founded the charity with his brother.
Akul is a freshman at Rutgers University. Originally, upon learning about the charity from his good friend Benny, Akul was immediately interested and became an integral part of the charity. Akul has always greatly valued helping those in need, and Nostos Charity is a medium through which he can do that effectively.
